Where and what to study to become a member
If you're a student looking to become an NZICA member, this page provides the essentials on where and what to study.
To become a CA or an ACA member, you'll need to study at an Accredited Tertiary Institution (ATI) and complete pre-approved courses.
To ensure all students receive the training they need to become a member, we:
- approve tertiary institutes to offer the academic requirements for membership
- approve the courses offered by these tertiary institutes.
To become an AT you'll need to study at an NZQA recognised and accredited provider. See a list of these providers.
Please note that the pathway to become a Chartered Accountant is changing from 2013. Find out about the new requirements.
